Granola that leaves you drooling

Is anyone looking for breakfast inspiration? How about this homemade granola with low fat yogurt and my favourite banana. It is so delicious and is so healthy to start your day with. I simply don’t trust products that have odd oils and sugars. So I simply choose to not have granolas made outside, especially since they have so much refined sugar and even unnecessary oils. To be honest, you really don’t need oil or butter for granola. This was an easy one. I roasted it in the oven.

Here’s my granola recipe :

  • 500 gms of whole rolled oats emptied in a baking dish or pan
  • 1 small cup of almonds (emptied in the same pan)
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin seeds (emptied in the same pan)
  • 1/4 cup sunflower seeds (emptied in the same pan)
  • 1/4 cup dried goji berries (without oil, to be added only after baking/roasting)
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberry (to be added only after baking/roasting).
  • 350 ml of honey/maple/agave (I like it less sweet, and I prefer honey. If you wish to enhance the sweetness, you can add more). 3 tablespoon of cinnamon

Method

  1. Add honey to the oats mix.
  2. Mix well so that every oat grain is coated with cinnamon and honey.
  3. Preheat the oven to 250 and keep mixing the ingredients, as the oven is heating up.
  4. Reduce the heat to 150 then place the pan inside for 15-20 minutes.
  5. After every 15-20 minutes remove the granola to stir well so that every grain is roasted well and it doesn’t burn on the top.
  6. You will see the oats softening up.
  7. Remove again and mix well.
  8. Repeat the process till you see the oats’ colour change to golden brown & become crunchy.
  9. Once out of the oven, add the cranberry and the goji berry.
